Missing d3dx9_42.dll in XBMC

Now I am having bit fun with XBMC media player.I bet this is one of the best MEdia CeNTers in the market for which you dont even have to pay a penny.

There was some problem in loading the program in windows 7 as well as
windows xp.There error message went like this



Some of the direct 3D librariies was missing so the program was not starting as expected.
So I decided to troubleshoot this.. :D
LUckily and amazingly I got the solution in the first step.Just go to dllfiles.com and download
a file called d3dx9_42.dll and place it in XBMC installed directory.You are done. :D

MISSING SPACE IN THUMB DRIVE

Using unpartioned space in thumb drive...

Recently I download the mandriva 2010 ISO from on of the mandriva mirrors..Luckily it was a hybrid ISO that I could use in thumb drive. I downloaded a tool called Mandriva Seed which helped me to boot the image from thumb.Installation was successfull and I must admit the
distro is damn sexy..

But the problem came when i tried to format the thumb drive.Suprisingly only a 690 MB was available for me to format.Where did the rest 3.4GB disappear...??????

I checked the disk management utility provided by MS winxp.Only one active partition was there in thumb drive.Rest of 3.4 GB was shown as unallocated free space.My thumb was new San disk Cruzer which i bought 2 days ago.I donno wanna defigure it.So i downloaded a tool called HDD low level format tool from hddguru.com and my issue was fixed.

This is a great tool and its quite handy for formatting harddisks too.

So i hope all will give it a try when needed :D

HAVING FUN WITH NOKIA SIEMENS ADSL ROUTER

Having a Game with Nokia/Siemens ADSL router

Here you have your router configuration page.If you have a laptop its good and you can enjoy surfing while on the move around the house :D

You can get excellent wireless signal strength upto around 50-60 metres provided there is no disturbances.I climbed the upstairs of home into the terrace from where i could get excellent signal strengths...

Here is how to configure your wireless router for having a wireless network built up around your house.
1) open your favourite browser and type 192.168.1.1

2) Enter routers admin password.By default its user admin and password admin..

3) Here you reach the routers configuration page.From there go to wireless link.
in the the basic tab(in your system it may be different) check enable wireless.

4) Now your router is broadcasting.Now a word of security even though i am not gett
in detail.May be your neighbour sniffing around your network for getting some free
internet..

5) So to tighten your security go to security tab.Choose a suitable encryption type.For
home secuirty.I recommend wep. 64bit is enough in my opinion.Now make sure its diffic
ult to guess.

BSNL INTERNET : MY REVIEW

I have bought a BSNL broadband connection 500 plan.It has several exciting features.
Speed is pretty descent with speeds flying above 1.7 mbps most of the time.Also it
have night unlimited feature.According to me if you are looking for a broadband internet
connection in India bsnl is the best choice.

Some of advantages I get using BSNL broadband connection are

One of the fastest Internet connection available in India with many plans whose spe
ed is above 1.7 mbps @ most of the time except for some unlimited plans whose speed
is in range 256-512kbps.But still u can get unlimited speed at 2mbps under business
plans.

Very less downtime.I am hardly able to notice any of those

Night unlimited plans are good.If everything goes fine you can download around 4.5 GB
a day absolutely free of cost.I download opensuse 11.2(4.3 GB ISO) just in 6 hours

No fair usage policy.BSNL is one of the only service providers in India which say its
unlimited and actually is.You can see many service providers which its unlimited but
you can use only upto a limit.after that you pay :) hats off BSNL for that

And last not the least they give you a hi-tech modem for rent :D

Disadvantages

BSNL in India even though is having the worst customer support according to me.I am
not so sure about other places but as a whole we here a lot of such complaints.
They do not respect for customers.Thier mentality is that they will get their salary
even if customer is dissatisfied.

OPEN SUSE 11.2 INSTALLATION FROM HARDDISK

Open suse 11.2 Installation from Hard drive Step by Step
I am a linux maniac and two days ago I downloaded open suse 11.2 dvd from on of themirrors.Now I was desperate to try out the brand new suse but when i checked my dvd packit had no empty dvds in it...I felt very bad..I learnt that all new opensuse dvds arebuilt as hybrid iso's and they can booted from even from pendrives.But i had only a4 GB dvd and the iso was around 4.3 GB..unfortunately i dont have another grub installed in my system

Now i found a solution for this.If this doesnt work please dont blame me dear friends.Thisworked fine for me.Before starting make sure your computer supports booting from usb.You are wasting your time in this method if it doesnt support
1) Extract the entire contents to a local directory say C:
2) Download a tool called unetbootin.or the software just do googling
3) Now open it and in the choose the custom. In that in the column of kernel give the path & of the file name called linux(just do a search in the directory you extracted from iso).Inthe initrd field give name and path of file called initrd located in same directory as that oflinux.
4)Now choose your pendrive in the list below and click ok.
5)Now restart your system.Make sure Ist boot device is thumb drive.
6)The installation starts.Now choose the option installation from harddisk.Choose the harddisk in which you extracted the files.Give the absolute pathname.
